When a storm hits your grove, nursery, or farm, the damage can reach far beyond what you see in the field. Your plants, buildings, equipment, and ability to keep working may all be affected.

I'm Julio Ortega, a Florida public insurance adjuster with Active Claim Adjusters. I've been licensed in Florida since two thousand five, helping policyholders understand and present their insurance claims.

If your agricultural business has suffered a loss, the first step is identifying the policy that applies and the kind of help your claim needs.

That distinction matters. Insurance for growing crops or nursery plants is not necessarily the same as insurance for a greenhouse, packing house, irrigation equipment, or harvested inventory. Damage to citrus fruit and damage to the trees themselves may also involve different coverage.

For farm and agricultural property claims, I can help review the policy, document the damage, organize estimates and supporting records, and communicate with your insurance company within our agreed scope of representation.

My role is to represent you, the policyholder.

Federally reinsured crop insurance follows its own rules. Your crop insurance provider assigns its loss adjuster. Any assistance I provide with a crop claim must fit the policy, the required authorization, and the services we agree on. We start by reviewing those requirements together.

Imagine a storm damages a nursery's shade structure and plant inventory. Photos of the site are valuable, but the claim may also need plant lists, purchase and sales records, repair estimates, and information about the condition of the property before the storm. Different parts of that loss may belong under different policies.

A clear record helps explain what happened, what was affected, and the amount being claimed.

Notify your crop insurance agent or insurer promptly. Follow their instructions about protecting the property, inspections, harvesting, replanting, and disposal. Get any required approval before removing damaged crops or changing evidence.

Whether you have a new loss, unanswered questions, or a settlement offer you want to understand, let's review where things stand.

Call me at seven eight six, five four seven, six seven five one, or use the claim review section on this website. Tell me what was damaged, where your operation is located, and what your insurance company has said so far.

You have a business to keep growing. Let's talk about the next step for your claim.

Your work. Your claim.

MORE THAN A SEASON’S WORK

A single loss.
Many moving parts.

From the field to the packing house, damage can affect several parts of your operation. Each part deserves its own policy and evidence review.

Wind, rain, freeze, fire, equipment breakdown and other events are situations to review—not a statement that a particular policy covers them.

START IN THE RIGHT PLACE

Your policy sets
the path.

A crop policy and a farm property policy may respond differently to the same storm. Select the area closest to your loss.

Why the distinction matters ↗
CROP INSURANCE / MPCI

Keep your crop insurer involved from the start.

Federally reinsured crop policies have their own provisions, loss-adjustment process and dispute requirements. Your approved insurance provider assigns its crop loss adjuster. Julio’s assistance is evaluated separately for the policy, required authorization and agreed services.

Useful starting records
  • Policy, crop year, acreage reports and field or grove maps
  • Production, harvest and sales records
  • Loss photographs and insurer correspondence

Report directly. Contact your crop insurance agent or insurer promptly. This website inquiry does not file a claim or preserve a deadline.

CLEAR ANSWERS

Before the
next step.

Is “crop adjusting” the right term?+

Yes, but it commonly describes the crop loss adjuster assigned by an insurance provider. Julio is a Florida public adjuster representing policyholders. This site uses “Crop & Farm Claims” to distinguish grower-side claim review and agricultural property adjusting from the insurer’s own crop-adjustment process.

Can one storm involve more than one policy?+

Yes. Growing crops, citrus fruit, trees, nursery plants, buildings, equipment and stored goods can fall under different policies or coverage sections. We begin by identifying the applicable policies; one loss description does not establish coverage.

Does Julio work for USDA or my crop insurer?+

No. Julio’s role here is as a Florida public adjuster with Active Claim Adjusters LLC. This site does not claim USDA affiliation or federal crop-loss-adjuster certification. Any assistance with a federal crop claim depends on the policy, required authorization and agreed scope.

Can you review a delayed claim or settlement offer?+

Start by sharing the policy and insurer correspondence. Julio can discuss the claim’s current position and whether his services are appropriate. Dispute procedures and deadlines vary, and legal or other specialized assistance may be needed.

What does representation cost?+

Services, fees and authorization must be set out in an accepted written agreement, subject to applicable Florida requirements. A website inquiry alone does not create representation or promise an outcome.

Does submitting this inquiry notify my insurer?+

No. Contact your crop insurance agent or insurer separately and follow the policy’s notice requirements. The inquiry tool below prepares a message for Julio in your own email app; it does not transmit a notice of loss.
